Disneyland California Adventure's Festival of Holidays

Hello Darlings,

Disneyland California Adventure’s Festival of Holidays is one of the best events of the year. The food is incredible and for those over 21, the alcoholic beverages are a delicious way to celebrate the season.

To my surprise, I was not very wowed this year. I know! This is probably due the fact that I am pretty picky but I did still have some favorites.

One item I go for every time they have a food and wine festival is the pork belly. This year it was a Braised Pork Belly Adobo with Garlic Fried Rice. The pork belly was very tangy and set on top of rice that had a garlic taste to it. The dish was topped with some pork rinds. The mixture of it all together in one bite was amazing. The flavors complemented each other to a whole new world.

Another favorite had to be the cheese fondue called the Chorizo Queso Fundido with House-made Tortilla chips. Now, I am not a huge fan of chorizo so we asked for it on the side and paid $2 for extra chips (yes you will probably need it). The fondue was really amazing but in all honesty, how can you go wrong with melted cheese. Once you stir it around on the bottom, the cheese that they placed before adding the sauce begins to melt and make thick and gooey deliciousness. Definitely the food highlight for me.

The drinks are on a whole other level but for those of you under 21 (like me!) don’t fret! There are a ton of fun non alcoholic drinks to have as well. I had the Pomegranate Lemonade and the Warm Peppermint Chocolate Float. The Pomegranate Lemonade was very refreshing to have with heavy food options. It had a great balance between sweet and tart so I would highly recommend.

The Warm Peppermint Chocolate Float was very unusual but in the best ways! They put in peppermint syrup, vanilla ice cream, hot chocolate, and topped it off with whip cream and peppermint topping. This drink threw me off at first as the hot chocolate was actually hot. I know that is what it is called but in my mind I could not see that working, but it did! The only thing I wished they did differently was to mix in the peppermint somehow differently than the syrup. The syrup just sank to the bottom. It would be nice if they used peppermint ice cream or added to the hot coco while making it. That’s a small thing though. All in all it was really yummy.

Let me know below what your favorite item from food and wine festival is and where (aka California Adventure, Epcot, etc.)!
